Meade County RECC offers many ways to use lighting to improve your quality of life while providing safety and security for your home or business. A few of these lighting services are listed below. Contact your local Meade County RECC office for details.
Security Lighting
Feel more secure while protecting your home or business during the night by leasing a Meade County RECC security light. You'll be using the best outdoor lighting equipment available while saving on energy and maintenance cost. A photo-electric cell turns the light on and off automatically, so you never have to worry about it--even when you are away.

The security light lease includes a high--quality, utility grade light fixture installed and maintained by the Cooperative. The monthly charge also includes the electricity used by the light. A pole rental fee of $0.42cents per month is charged if an additional pole is needed.
Lighting Guide We now have a variety of security lights available. Security lights come in different wattages and types. Three types of security lighting options are available.
- Mercury Vapor (MV) -
Purple to bluish in appearance, these are the current workhorse in the utility industry. What most people now refer to as "streetlights", these are available in 175-watt and 400-watt fixtures.
- Metal Halide (MH) -
These are the lights normally used at sporting events. They are a bright light and show colors well. These are available only in 400-watt fixtures.
- High Pressure Sodium (HPS) -
These are bright yellow lights used primarily in parking lots. These are available only in 400-watt fixtures.
